As of Friday, 462 international travelers with Manipur as final destination have been under surveillance by the health officials, according to the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur. All are being tested by RT-PCR on the eight day of their arrival in India.
In the wake of the recent detection of a new variant of SARSCOV2 (OMICRON), the directorate has been monitoring the entry of international passengers in the state, stated a release by Health Services director Dr K Rajo on Friday.
Out of these 462 international arrivals in Manipur, 155 have completed their 14 days of surveillance with all of them testing negative.
Of the remaining 307 under surveillance 194 have been tested on the 8th with RT-PCR and 4 have tested positive. They are asymptomatic and are now in a government hospital. Their samples have been sent for Whole Genome Sequencing at IBSD, Takyelpat. Three of these samples have tested negative for OMICRON variant while the result of one sample is awaited.
The remaining 113 who are on surveillance for less than eight days will also be subjected to RT-PCR testing and necessary Genome sequencing, if found positive, the release stated.
