Complete deserted looks since morning in Ukhrul as the public responded positively to the NSCN (I-M) call for a total closure of shops and business establishments in Nagalim for a 12-hour total shutdown on August 3, 2021.

As a mark of protest against the Government of India for keeping silent on the historic Framework Agreement (FA) of 2015, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim had called the 12-hour shutdown.

Not a single shop and business establishment was open in Ukhrul Town. Except for emergency cases, no vehicle was plying on the road.

An observance programme was held at TNL Assembly Hall marking the 6th anniversary of the signing of the Framework Agreement of 2015 under the aegis of Tangkhul Naga Long. The Naga National flag was hoisted during the observance.

Meanwhile, the NSCN (I-M) expressed sincere gratitude to all the shop owners and business establishments for exhibiting the courage to show solidarity to the Framework Agreement (FA).

“We are also equally grateful to the Naga people and public for bearing with the inconveniences. It was organized to show our anguish and disappointment for dilly-dally in finalization of the FA,” stated a release by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of the outfit.

The shutdown call met with a grand success because of the overwhelming support from all over Naga areas including the Naga areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, it added.
