The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isaak-Muivah) has called a 12-hour shutdown, as a protest against the Government of India for keeping silent on the Framework Agreement even after six years of signing.
There will be a total closure of shops and business establishments in Nagalim from 12:00 am midnight of August 2, 2021 till 12:00 noon of August 3, 2021 (12 hours), stated a release by the Ministry of Information and Publicity of the outfit.
NSCN (I-M) also appealed to the Naga people, public and business groups to show solidarity with the Framework Agreement and cooperate for the success of the shutdown. The NSCN Regional authorities and Civil Society Organizations (CSOS) too have been requested to cooperate.
The historic Framework Agreement which was signed on August 3, 2015 between the GoI and NSCN (I-M) is yet to see the light of fulfillment as committed by the Gol, it said.
“Six years down the line, there is no positive response yet from the Gol. The Nagas cannot be taken for a ride in this manner”.
While Naga people appreciate the Government of India for recognizing the historical and political rights of the Nagas by signing the FA, the matter should not end there. What had been committed should be taken to a logical conclusion, the outfit asserted.
The NSCN (I-M) attached high political value to FA as a fulfillment of Naga people’s historical and political rights, it added.
