The Hill Tribal Council and the Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) Moreh block condemned the hurling of a grenade and gunshots at the residence of the second officer in charge of Moreh Police Station.

The incident occurred at around 8:50 pm on Saturday at the residence of Laishom Premjit of Turel Wangma, Moreh Ward Number 7. His wife, L Babita (36) and their 7-year-old son were reportedly injured due to the explosion. Babita was rushed to Moreh PHC from where she was later referred to Imphal.

Condemning the incident, the Hill Tribal Council termed the incident as “another random display of barbaric madness”.

“The act clearly is not the handiwork of a sensible individual or organisation. Such act in public places is committed only by cowards who are not fit to live in a decent society,” the council said in a release.

The council also asserted that it is against any act that disturbs the peaceful atmosphere of Moreh and strongly condemned the criminal involved and appealed to the various security agencies in Moreh to nab the culprit at the earliest and to ensure such crime does not recur again in this tiny border town.

On the other hand, the Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) Moreh block vehemently condemned the incident of bomb attack.

Hurling bombs at densely packed housing areas is an act of cowardice, said the student body while condemning the ‘despicable and nefarious act’ in the strongest terms

KSO also demanded that the people responsible for the bomb blast should be apprehended at the earliest.
