Accusing the Indian Government of unleashing cyberwar to suppress independence movements in Manipur, the proscribed United National Liberation Front, Manipur has alleged that its department of publicity’s official Facebook page “UNLF-MPA” has been taken down by Facebook following the complaint of Indian Intelligence to Facebook through the US government.

In a statement issued by media coordinator Department of Publicity of the UNLF Th.Charairongba, the outfit maintained that Article 2(4) of UN Charter has prohibited forced merger or annexation of state and considered it as an act of aggression.

Stating that this Article remains a worry for India, the statement said India India does not want other countries to raise the issue of right to self-determination of Manipur and is trying to stop such a situation by all means possible.

The statement further said Manipur which got independent in 1947, became part of dominion of India in 1949 through annexation violating international law. Since then, people of Manipur have been deprived of human rights declared by the United Nations. For the last 73 years, Manipur has been living as a colony of India. Voice of people is being suppressed so that it does reach the ears of the international community, it added.

It claimed that after UNLF-MPA messages through the media and social media started drawing attention of the international community and getting support from the masses, India unleashed a cyber-attack on its popular Facebook page “UNLF-MPA” on February 11, 2022.

The outfit maintained that on the occasion of MPA’s Raising Day, the outfit had shared some photos and videos highlighting struggles of MPA cadres’ lives amid covid pandemics through social media on February 10, 2022. The photo and video were an instant hit and went viral in no time like wildfire. After seeing the huge support from the masses, petrified India swiftly alerted Facebook and got the page removed, it added.

India has wrongly projected the Manipur-India conflict as India’s internal crisis and law & order problem before international communities by spreading propaganda, it said.
