MP RK Ranjan said Khamasom Walely Village is the place where it is the biodiversity hotspot with rich natural resources and Yang Honey will be the best and excellent honey in the world

Yang Honey processed and Manufactured by Yang Honey Promotion Society, Khamasom Walely Village, Ukhrul District was launched at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal, Manipur on Monday.
Yang Honey is a product from “Honey Bee Village”, Khamasom Walely Village, Ukhrul District, Manipur. It is supported by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre (KVK-Ukhrul), Manipur. The Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur is responsible for the marketing, research and development.
Speaking at the launching programme organized by ICAR and AIMS as chief guest, Lok Sabha member Dr. RK Ranjan said Yang Honey is a unique honey. It is the only organic honey produced from Yang Forest, the only virgin forest in Manipur and extracts from highly nutritious honey bees. “These highly nutritious honey-producing bees are frequently attacked by Khoiren bees and Khoibi Ningthou bees (types of giant honey). The Khamasom Walely Villagers give protection from the attacks by providing setters inside their houses. Nesting inside the house is the uniqueness of this yang honey,” he added.
RK Ranjan also said Khamasom Walely Village is the place where it is the biodiversity hotspot with rich natural resources and Yang Honey will be the best and excellent honey in the world.
The MP further said it has incidentally become an event of triple five. Since Khamasom Walely Village was declared as Honey Bee Village on March 5 2021 and launched Yang Honey on July 5, 2021 after five months, it is a good sign of successful production of the honey, headded
The programme is presided by Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Imphal.
In his speech, I. Meghachandra Singh said that Yang Honey can fulfil the vision of the present government’s doubling of income. This honey comes from the extreme interior part of Manipur, and it will be of high value in the international market, he added.
The programme was inaugurated by the planting bamboo and tree been (yongchak) treesDr. H. Birkumar Singh, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-NEIST, Branch Laboratory, Lamphelpat, Imphal. Mr. Mayanglambam Khelendro, Vice President, Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur took part in the programme as guests of honour. Dr. Chingakham Brajakishor, Scientist-D, Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal also attended it as Special Invitee.
