As part of its mission to provide quality education in the state, UNACCO is setting up a state-of-the-art co-ed residential school on a campus, which will be spread over 50 acres in Chanung, Imphal East by February 2023.
UNACCO chairman N Irabanta made an announcement in this regard on its 21st foundation day on Tuesday. In his presidential speech at the foundation day celebration held on campus of the upcoming residential school, he said quality education and healthcare have become essential for a society in moving forward.
Unfortunately, the people of the state rely on outside states to get quality education and healthcare due to lack of facilities in Manipur thereby draining the state’s economy, he added.
Stating that good and quality education as the key to a progressive society, Irabanta said the UNACCO has given thrust iun the education sector.
Upcoming school campus spread over 45 acres will accommodate various complexes of different disciplines, for the recreational activities of the students.
There will be different hockey, football and cricket pitches, running tracks, swimming pool and other facilities for traditional sports and indoor games, besides 50 per cent of the staff will be recruited from other states who are well-qualified with good experience, he added.
Irabanta pointed out that many parents forked out over Rs 15 lakh per year in sending their wards to residential schools outside the state besides the child faces issues about weather and food habits.
Once launched, UNACCO residential school will bring down the spending of the parents drastically, he said, adding that UNACCO has decided to charge at the reasonable rate of Rs 2 lakh for class IV and V and Rs 2.2 lakh for class VI to VIII. UNACCO is also planning to introduce a college in 2023, he added.
Delivering the chief guest speech, MLA Th Lokeshwar highlighted the importance of human resource development in this modern society. He said educational institutes are one which can create enough resources and enlighten the society.
Lauding the UNACCO for its efforts in giving quality education, he said it is believed that the upcoming UNACCO residential school will be among the top schools in the entire country.
The MLA also said that he made a deal in principle with the chairman of UNACCO for widening and blacktopping of the road leading to the upcoming UNACCO school from Taretkhul.
Of the total 16 students of UNACCO School who have cracked the NEET Examination, four of them were felicitated on Tuesday.
Earlier in the morning, MLA RK Imo had released the UNACCO’s yearly calendar and diary besides planting tree saplings on the campus of the upcoming school campus. The foundation day celebration was attended by various bureaucrats, entrepreneurs besides faculties and students of the UNACCO.
