Ukhrul District Police in collaboration with the Medical Department of Ukhrul organised one-day Covid-19 vaccination awareness programme at Reserve Line in Ukhrul on Monday.
The awareness programme was initiated with an aim to sensitise the police personnel for positive response towards Covid-19 vaccination and to gain confidence and support for mass vaccination.
CMO Dr Kapangring A Shimray, Dr. Pamza Luikham and Dr Themyao Ningshen elaborated in detail the importance of the vaccine and cleared the questions of the participants during the discussion hour.
SP Saujanya Singh stated that it is the responsibility of police personnel to stay fit and healthy and requested those police personnel who are yet to get Covid-19 vaccination at the earliest, unless of course there is medical complication and perform their duty smoothly. “Election is also approaching, we must be ready to perform our duty” added Saujanya Singh.
SDPO Thotreithing Chalamva stated, “I was tested Covid-19 positive. But I am well now because I have taken the first and second dose and that saves me from going to ICU and my life.”
The awareness programme was also attended by Additional SP of Ukhrul, Ringthing Hongchui, police officers and personnel of Ukhrul District. Many police personnel decided to get vaccinated after clearing their doubts and misconception. This is the second time that the department has organised such an awareness programme.
