AICC senior observer (Manipur) Jairam Ramesh on Sunday stressed that self-confidence is key to defeating BJP in the upcoming 2022 state general election.
Speaking at a one-day political interaction programme organised by Thoubal DCC held at its office, MP Jairam Ramesh asserted that BJP can be defeated (in the election). The Congress workers need to believe in it, he said.
MP Jairam Shankar reminded that Thoubal is the home and fort of Congress. If Thoubal is strong, Congress is strong in Manipur, he added.
The Congress MP stated that in the upcoming election in 2022, the people of Manipur will say “bye-bye” to Biren, the chief minister of Manipur, and in the next two year, the people of India will say “bye-bye” to ‘Naren’ (PM Modi).
Stating that the BJP government has not done any developmental works since it came to power, he said, “Manipur means the land of the Jewel but BJP has made Manipur into Moneypur”.
Speaking at the programme, former chief minister Ibobi said that Congress candidates can compete and fight any BJP candidate in any assembly constituency and in any aspect. He appealed the Congress leaders to work unitedly and at their level best to make Congress come to power.
The interaction programme was attended by MPCC working president K Meghachandra, former MPCC president M Okendro, MLA Surjakumar, MPCC vice president M Hemanta, Thoubal DCC president Lukhoi, and other Congress workers.
