Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on Tuesday (January 10, 2023) has approved the proposal for elevation of Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, and Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui as judges of the High Court of Manipur. The Supreme Court in a statement confirmed the elevation of these two judicial officers.
Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, born on March 1, 1967 is son of A Brajakumar Sharma, a resident of Yaiskul Police Lane. He graduated LLB from the Delhi University and has an M.Sc. (Statistics) degree. Guneshwar was also Advocate-on-Record (2003) Code-1424, Supreme Court of India. He was appointed as Grade-I Officer in Manipur Judicial Service on 26/5/2010 as direct recruit in the District & Sessions Judge, Super Time Scale Grade.
Earlier, Aribam Guneshwar Sharma has served as (i) Presiding Officer, Revenue/Co-operative Tribunal & MACT, Manipur; (ii) Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority for more than 2 years during 2011-2013; Legal Services became popular during my tenure. Started live phone-in programmes in AIR, Imphal and DDK, Imphal. (iii) District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East [July, 2013 to October, 2015] (iv) District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal [Novermber, 2015 to July 2016] (v) Registrar General, High Court of Manipur [July, 2016 to April, 2021].
Before being elevated as the judge of Manipur High Court, he was the District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West having jurisdiction over revenue districts of Imphal West, Tamenglong, Noney, Chandel & Tengnoupal and was also the Senior most District Judge in Manipur.
Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui was the Registrar General. High Court of Manipur and was the District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East District.
