SBI NEC contributes cash, oxygen cylinders & ICU beds to CIHSR Nagaland

General Manager of Network-II of State Bank of India, North Eastern Circle, Guwahati, Lunkim Thangboi, on Saturday handed over a sum of Rs 39,99,713 to the Director, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dr Sedevi Angami.

Through this initiative, SBI in association with SBI Foundation contributed 50 oxygen cylinders and 50 fallow ICU beds.

Addressing a small gathering of SBI officials and the hospital staff at CIHSR, Thangboi, said that the country was passing through a traumatic time during the pandemic and it was in May this year that the bank received a proposal from CIHSR.


Dr Sedevi Angami, director, CIHSR, while acknowledging the gesture of the SBI said that lack of oxygen and ICU beds during the pandemic has been a problem and the hospital have been expanding the capacity of beds and oxygen for a more comfortable fight against the anticipated third wave.


He later claimed that the contribution would prove to be a blessing not only for the state but the entire region.


Meanwhile, on the same day, the SBI Dimapur region also organized a cluster finance programme for Self Help Groups (SHGs) at Niathu Resort in the presence of SBI General Manager, Network II, North East Circle, Lunkim Thangboi.


Speaking on the occasion, Thangboi highlighted on the importance of credit linkage to the SHGs and the important role its members have in developing the society and entrepreneurship in the state and he also stressed on the important role of women in managing the household finances with prudence.

He said that SBI is ready to give funds to people in the state especially by way of formation of SHG thereby ensuring the extension of credit facilities to the remotest and marginalized segments of the society. He opined that the programme was one of the most successful event organized by SBI, Dimapur region thus far in respect of credit linkage to the SHGs.

The general manager further exhorted the beneficiaries to judiciously use the bank funds in furthering their business and uplifting their economic standard of living.

Others present in the programme included Ajanta Hazarika, Deputy General Manager (B&O), AO Jorhat, Abinash Hembrom, Regional Manager, Dimapur Region, Rajneesh Kumar, AGM FI.

Sanction letters to 101 SHGs members comprising mostly of women under the cluster of Niuland, Sechu- Zubza, Medziphema, Chumukedima, Jalukie and Diphupar were presented by the General Manager during the programme, while another 28 trainees who have completed their vocational training in piggery from SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Jalukie, were also handed over with sanction letters under Mudra Piggery Scheme.

SHGs present in the programme are mainly engaged in activities such as poultry, piggery, pickle making, weaving, banana plantation, mushroom cultivation, small retail shop, local handicraft, onward lending among the group members etc.
