Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday shot off a letter to the union minister for health and family welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, seeking the latter’s urgent attention on the issue concerning the NEET PG examination centres for candidates from Nagaland state.
According to the letter, Rio stated that following the recent postponement of the NEET PG exams and its rescheduling to August 11, it was learnt that the National Board of Examinations (NBEs) has removed the test cities in Nagaland, and added that prior to the postponement, the examination centres were provided in Kohima and Dimapur making it convenient for the candidates from the state to appear for the said exams.
Rio lamented that the removal of these local centres places a significant burden on the candidates, many of whom now face the added challenges and expenses of travelling to other states in order to sit for the said examinations.
Also adding that the situation is especially concerning given the geographical and logistical difficulties associated with travel from Nagaland which could potentially hinder the candidate’s ability to perform well in the exams, the Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, has requested the intervention of the union minister to reallocate examination centres in Kohima and Dimapur for the NEET PG examination scheduled for August 11.
Further, Rio stated that the reinstatement would greatly alleviate the hardships faced by the candidates and ensure equitable access to examination facilities.
