NSCN(I-M) on Saturday defended the collection of taxes by the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN). “Collection of taxes by a government from its citizens is a legitimate right and it is nothing illegal at all. Even the representatives of the Government of India who are engaged in political dialogue with NSCN leaders recognize this right,” it added.
However, the NSCN(I-M) said GPRN is opposed to extortions and excesses if ever committed by the collectors. That is the area the government (GPRN) has to deal with strong hands.
Invoking Napoleon Bonaparte’s statement “The sun is always the sun even if it is not recognized”, the outfit said in a press statement that “Recognise it or not, the Nagas are a nation of God’s people.” The Naga national right is inherent, not a generous gift of the constitution of any country, and that it can never be robbed off or murdered by any force, it added.
The outfit further said, “We have lived by our national right yesterday, we are living by it today and we shall live by it tomorrow because our right is the foundation of our existence and nationhood.
The inherent right of a people is ageless and timeless. History says that during the time of the Roman Empire, the British Empire and some others that the national rights of many people were suppressed for some time, but all of them rose and regained their rights through trailblazing revolution or negotiations, it stated.
Significantly, history had driven those parasitic empires into oblivion, it said. But nation-states that are built on the foundation of their respective national rights are still alive to claim their rightful place in the comity of nations, it added.
NSCN (I-M) also said that It is not a new thing to all that those opportunists, collaborators, traitors and other pseudonationalists used to participate in peoples’ revolutionary movements in sheep’s clothing. With a flirtatious mindset they desert here and there in search of fortune. Ironically, people with similar traits of character have penetrated into NSCN. “But can they deliver the goods to the people?,” it asked.
“History says that no people of that kind have ever built a kingdom, rather they destroy. Naturally, they do not have the supporting materials that are politically correct to liberate a people and build a state. We believe that they are not the stuff worth focusing on. Ridiculously, the adversaries are using the non-issue to settle their score against NSCN,” it asserted.
Such a manner of indulging in cheap anti-NSCN propaganda is open for mockery in the eyes of the people, it said.
It is pointless on the part of the critics to level false allegations on
“NSCN focuses on issues and we can say we have made commendable achievements to some extent on vital issues of both internal and external affairs (matters). We are not new to the restlessness of critics and adversaries trying to smear NSCN’s image in the eye of the world with a destructive scheme of things,” it claimed.
Further the outfit asserted that In principle, they run their government and conduct affairs of the state on the basis of collective decision-making culture. For any matter of national importance, the Collective Leadership consisting of the Yaruiwo (President), the Kedallo (Vice-president) and the Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) always consults the Members of the Collective Leadership, the Convener of the Steering Committee and the Kilonser (Minister) of the Kilo (Home) Affairs. On security related matters, the Longvibu (Chief) of the Naga Army is consulted, it added.
It also put on record to assert that a number of devious plans had been executed by the adversaries to murder the Naga national issue, but the Naga people survived by His grace from all the attempts and God willing we shall survive in the future too.
