The Raphei Wungnao – a conglomeration of chiefs from northern Tangkhul villages, felicitated Khashim Vashum, Minister of Transport, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Government of Manipur on Monday at TTA Hall, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, president of Raphei Wungnao Somi Kasomwoshi said, “it is indeed a great moment for Tangkhul community and especially for the Raphei area to see our elected representative being inducted in the Government formation of Manipur as a Cabinet Minister of Transport, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.”
In his speech, Khashim Vashum expressed immense gratitude to Raphei Wungnao for organising such a felicitation programme in his honour. He categorically stressed on the importance to develop and transform Pettigrew College -the lone Government college of Ukhrul District. He also sought the support and cooperation of the Tangkhul community for the smooth functioning of the various Government agencies in Manipur especially in Ukhrul District.
President of TNL David K Shimray stated that “Yes man is the greatest betrayal of humankind and must be very careful to those people for they are ready to please anyone and anybody anytime and anywhere. Give your ear to the man who argues with you and debates you on various issues.” On behalf of the Tangkhul community, he wishes Khashim Vashum a bright political journey ahead.
President of TKS, Shimri Raising stated that “education is the cradle of nation building. I want our people’s representatives to give utmost priority to education, so that everyone can live a dignified life in the future to come. We believe, our Hon’ble Minister, Khashim Vashum will surely work for the upliftment and overall development of Manipur.”
Chairman of Ato Longphang, Dearson Chamroy urged the gathering to extend maximum and undivided support to Minister Khashim Vashum.
Chief of Chingai Village, Kaphungkhan K. Shimray led the hokharai and President of Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL), SA. Ramnganing said the blessing prayer.
Haolaa -a tangkhul folk song was presented by Kuirei village.
The felicitation programme was also attended by president of Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), Thingreiphi Lungharwoshi, president of Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL), Somipam Vashum, vice president of Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, Themaso Tallanao and various chiefs and chairmen of Raphei area.
