Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton says investigation by SIT on December 4 Oting massacre is almost complete

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister & Minister, Home, Y Patton on Monday assured justice for the victims of the December 4 Oting massacre and said investigation by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) was almost complete “though pending a few documentations”. He said this while speaking at the flagging off ceremony of newly purchased vehicles for district SPs at Police Headquarters, Kohima.

Lauding the Nagaland Police for making recent major seizure of smuggled gold and improving detection of drugs, IMFL and contraband seizure, Patton expressed hope that the fight against drugs and contraband will continue for the well-being of society and the younger generation. Stating that better mobility and quick response to any situation are key functions of the Police department, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed hope that better vehicles would enable the department to lead at the front with alacrity and respond to any situation promptly.

‘Will extend help for Nagas stranded in Ukraine’

Meanwhile, the deputy chief minister, has said that he would extend assistance personally to the Nagas stranded in Ukraine or taking shelter in neighbouring countries. He informed that if there is anyone from Nagaland studying, travelling or working in Ukraine and is left stranded in the war torn country or those who have fled Ukraine and taking shelter in neighbouring countries, he is willing to extend any possible help to bring them back by getting in touch with the officials of Ministry of External Affairs and Embassies in foreign countries.

In this regard, he has asked the parents and relatives of those who may be stranded there, and needing assistance, to send him proper details of such persons through parents or through the office of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).
