Police team is still trying to find the whereabouts of the main accused Ayekpam Keshorjit of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai Imphal West when reports last came in.

One person identified as one Naorem Ricky Pointing Singh alias Amu has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Laishram Rameshwor Singh, the general secretary of BJP Manipur ex-servicemen cell at around 11 am on Tuesday.
According to police, two unidentified men came to Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Makha Leikai (Ningombam Leirak) on a Mahindra XUV 300, white in colour, and shot Laishram Rameshwor Singh (55), son of L Nimai of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, Thoubal.
On receiving of information, immediate attempt was made to arrest the accused persons. After a hectic chase and search operation, the vehicle used in the crime and the driver of the vehicle used by the accused has been arrested. The one arrested by the police has been identified as one Naorem Ricky Pointing Singh alias Amu, son of N Kesho of Keinou Thongthak Maning Leikai, Bishnupur District, presently staying at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai.
“Police is still searching for the main accused Ayekpam Keshorjit, son of (L) A Kunjo of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai Imphal West”, said a police press note. One empty case of .32 bullet is recovered from the place of the crime.
Laishram Rameshwor was admitted to Raj Medicity after the shooting but succumbed to bullet injuries. His body has been shifted to JNIMS Morgue for Post Mortem and other legal formalities.
Laishram Rameshwor Singh was a retired army personnel and also current member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said sources.
