NEWS UPDATE: Two persons killed at Samurou area last night in suspected pre-poll violence. Abujam John and Abujam Tomba of Samurou Awang Leikai were shot by unidentified persons. Abujam Tomba died on way to hospital.

NEWS UPDATE: In a suspected poll related violence, two individuals died on Sunday night after they were shot by some unidentified persons coming in a car. The incident occurred at around 9 pm near Machu Cinema Hall, Samurou, Imphal West.

The two deceased have been identified as Abujam John (51) and Abujam Tomba (36). Both of them are residents of Samurou Awang Leikai.

As per sources, some individuals came in a car (Baleno) and shot at a group of people gathered near Machu Cinema Hall.

While John died on the spot, Tomba later died in a private hospital in Imphal.

A joint action committee has been formed against the killing.
