In order to combat the menace of illegal collection from vehicles at certain check gates and other locations within the state, state’s police headquarter (PHQ) has now established a ‘people friendly’ 24×7 control room to tackle the same issues since May 19.
When contacted, Nagaland DGP T John Longkumer told this correspondent that if there are any reports or allegations with regard to illegal collections or taxation, the department would register a case against the culprits for further investigation.
As per the government notification issued on May 19 this year, there will be actions taken to tackle illegal collection from vehicles at check gates and other locations in the state. Longkumer also informed that eight inter-state check gates have been identified in the state. These were Khuzama under Kohima district, Khatkatti, New Field and Dellai check gates under the jurisdiction of Dimapur.
Other such control rooms are being established at Bhandari (Wokha), Namza, Tizit, Naginimora (Mon), Kezakeno and Lanyie in Phek district, Maram via Peren, and Shetap (Yanglok) under Longleng district.
