Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister, S. Pangnyu Phom, on Saturday said that as per the directives of the Central Government, the ongoing ‘lockdown’ would continue in the state and would be lifted till the Covid-19 case is below 5 percent.
At present, the Covid-19 case in the State stands at 9.3 percent. Pangnyu disclosed this during his visit to Longleng district where he also had a Covid-19 review meeting with the District Task Force (DTF), Civil Societies, and Churches at Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Longleng, the same day.
Addressing at the gathering, Pangnyu Phom, informed that the purpose of the visit was to take stock of the situation and pointed out that unlike the first wave, the second wave has caused huge casualties in the country not because of lack of medical facilities but due to negligence of patients who come to the hospital at the last hour.

In this regard, he has directed the DTF to make assessment of the required equipment (s) in the district. Phom also congratulated the DTF led by the Deputy Commissioner, district administration, Police, medical personnel, VGs, NGOs, Civil Societies and Churches for working together as a family to combat the pandemic and making Longleng as one of the successful districts in the state.
He also appealed to all the Government officers and staff posted in the district to come forward and extend their helping hand to the medical department and the people during this crucial time.

Later, the H&FW minister and his entourage inspected the District Hospital and held internal meeting with the doctors and nurses. He also visited Isolation Home, Community Care Centre and the ongoing sub-jail construction.
Earlier, the programme chaired by EAC, Longleng, Pichano Kikon, saw Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, M.
