Nagaland: Existing lockdown measures in Dimapur extended till September 16

Shops and other business establishments dealing with essential goods and commodities including vegetable, fish, and meat vendors, milk booths, bakeries, local grocery stores, like LPG, and E-commerce services would remain open from 6 am to 6 pm on all the days.

The existing lockdown measures in Nagaland’s commercial hub, Dimapur, has been re-enforced with additional relaxations till September 16 while the night curfew will also be in force from 8 pm to 4
am.

Dimapur Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Rajesh Soundarajan, in a notification on Friday stated that shops and other business establishments dealing with essential goods and commodities including vegetable, fish, and meat vendors, milk booths, bakeries, local grocery stores, multiple utility services like LPG and E-commerce services would remain open from 6 am to 6 pm on all days.

It also said that all other shops and business establishments dealing with all kinds of goods, items
and articles and all shops located in New Market, Hongkong Market and Hazi Park have been permitted to open from 6 am to 6 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and further added that anyone violating the order would be penalized as per the provision of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.

The Nagaland Government had on September 2 announced extension of the ongoing lockdown measures and relaxations for various activities in the state till September 16. Principal Secretary (Home), Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, in an order, stated the government decided to extend the lockdown measures and relaxations for the various activities as per the August 18 order for another two weeks from September 3 to September 16.

Earlier on August 16, the High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 headed by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, had announced 15-day “Unlock-5’” in the state from August 19 till September 2. Meanwhile, the School Education Department, Nagaland, has also expressed willingness to open schools for Classes 9 and 10 in order to facilitate offline teaching. However, it said the final decision would be taken by the High Powered Committee.
