MHA rules out foreign hand in Churachandpur ambush, says NIA’s probe on

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, on Tuesday informed that there is no specific information indicating any kind of involvement of foreign hand in the Churachandpur ambush by militants on November 13 that claimed seven lives.

“There’s no specific information indicating any kind of involvement of foreign hand in the attack,” the MHA said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

The MHA further informed that the probe into the ambush is being thoroughly conducted by the national investigation agency (NIA).

“An extensive operation was conducted in surrounding areas by security forces to nab insurgents involved in a recent terror attack on the Assam Rifles convoy. NIA is conducting the probe,” the MHA added.

On November 13, cadres of militants of the state — People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF), carried out the attack, one of the deadliest in recent times.

The Commanding Officer of 46 Assam Rifles, Colonel Viplav Tripathi, his wife, and an eight-year-old son, and four soldiers who were part of a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) were killed in the ambush near S Sehken village, Singngat sub-division, Churachandpur district, India-Myanmar border in Manipur.
