Margaret Shishak, co-founder of Patkai Christian College passes away

Margaret Ann Shishak left a successful and outstanding career in the field of music in the USA after her marriage to Rev Dr Tuishem A Shishak and came to Nagaland. Together, they started the Patkai Christian College in Chümoukedima–Seithekema, Nagaland in the year 1974. The body of late Margaret Shishak would be laid to rest at the very site of her residence at Patkai Christian College after a brief funeral service to be held at Bundrock Auditorium on Monday at 2 pm.

Margaret Ann Shishak who is co-founder of Patkai Christian College, Nagaland passed away on Friday at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Dimapur. She was 81. Margaret Shishak is the wife of Rev Dr Tuisem Shishak, founder of Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima–Seithekema, Nagaland.

Tuisem A Shishak is the first Naga to study Christian Theology in the United States of America. He established Patkai Christian College in 1974 with his American wife Margaret Ann Shishak.

According to family source, late Margaret, an octogenarian (81) is survived by her husband, Rev Dr Tuisem Shishak, three sons and four grand children.

The body of late Margaret Shishak would be laid to rest at the very site of her residence at Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima, after a brief funeral service to be held at Bundrock Auditorium on Monday at 2 pm.

 

Chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio has offered condolence to the bereaved family members. In a message he said, “Mrs Margaret Anne Shishak, does not need any introduction to the people of Nagaland, as she has already become a legendary figure in our State. She left a successful and outstanding career in the field of music in USA after her marriage to Rev Dr Tuishem A Shishak and came to Nagaland. Together, they started the Patkai Christian College in Chtimoukedima, Nagaland in the year 1974. The college is now one of the best colleges in Nagaland, with a deemed university status”.

In another separate condolence message, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Nagaland, director, Theja Meru, has also condoled the demise of Margaret Anne Shishak. In the condolence message addressed to Rev Dr Tuisem A Shishak, Meru mentioned that late Margaret will always hold a special place for her dedication, vision and the rich music legacy she left behind. On behalf of the music and arts fraternity of Nagaland, Meru expressed his deepest condolences to Rev Dr Tuisem A Shishak and rest of the family members of the departed soul.
