Manipur registers three-digit spike in new covid-19 infections

104 fresh infections reported in the state while 3,14,835 new cases were registered and 2,104 deaths were reported in India in the last 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, Manipur on Friday recorded 104 cases of coronavirus infection, the highest single-day spike in recent times, taking the total active caseload to 590.

Among the 104 infected, 88 persons (49M. 39F) from general population and 16 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a state health department statement.

The highest number of infected cases was reported from Imphal West with 41, followed by by Imphal East (30), Churachandpur (11), Ukhrul (7), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (3), Kamjong(2), Kangpokpi (2), Senapati (2), Chandel (2) and Thoubal (1).

No more fatalities were reported during the period. 27 people recovered during the period, pushing up the total number of recoveries to 29,180. The recovery rate in the state stands at 96.77%.

Meanwhile, 3,14,835 new cases were registered in India in the last 24 hours. Ten States including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Rajasthan reported 75.66% of the new cases. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 67,468. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 33,106 while Delhi reported 24,638 new cases.

India’s total Active Caseload has reached 22,91,428. It now comprises 14.38% of the country’s total positive cases. A net incline of 1,33,890 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours. The five States of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala cumulatively account for 59.99% of India’s total active cases.

India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,34,54,880 on Friday. The National Recovery Rate is 84.46%.1,78,841 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.The National Mortality Rate has been falling and currently stands at 1.16%. 2,104 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
