Number of deaths continues to be a major concern in the fight against the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic as Manipur reported 20 more deaths on Tuesday, the same number of deaths was reported on May 11, 2021, which is the highest single day death in the state.
624 fresh cases were reported by the Health Department in the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Tuesday. The state positivity rate has increased to 19.49 percent.
As per the IDSP Manipur update, no test results were received from VRDL JNIMS for the second day. There has been no communication from the JNIMS authority in this regard.

In the last 24 hours, 20 persons aged 84 yrs (male, Imphal West), 42 yrs (male, Imphal East), 76 yrs (male, Imphal East), 75 yrs (female, Imphal West), 59 yrs (male, Imphal East), 88 yrs (female, Imphal West), 28 yrs (female, Churachandpur), 47 yrs (male, Churachandpur), 52 yrs (male, Thoubal), 73 yrs (female, Ukhrul), 44 yrs (male, Kakching). 60 yrs (female, Imphal East), 60 yrs (male, Imphal West), 38 yrs (male, Imphal East), 54 yrs (female, Imphal East), 42 yrs (male, Imphal East), 63 yrs (female, Imphal East), 52 yrs (male, Imphal West), 63 yrs (female, Senapati) and 82 yrs (male, Imphal East) expired at Shija Hospital (6), DH Churachandpur (2), DH Thoubal (1), DH Ukhrul (1), RIMS (6) and JNIMS (4) hospital respectively.
The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West (270), Imphal East (129), Bishnupur (67), Churachandpur (43), Thoubal (43), Kakching (32), Chandel (18), Ukhrul (7), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (2). Tengnoupal (2), Kangpokpi (2), Noney (4), and Pherzawl (2).
337 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from CAPF (8), Home Isolation (213), RIMS (5), JNIMS (3), RD Wing (4), BB (6), NSU (5), SHRI (13), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (10), DH Churachandpur (7), Jivan Hospital (2), Thoubal (13), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (17), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (16), Tamenglong (3), and Jiribam (4). The recovery rate is 82.26 %.
The total infection in the state has reached 40,683 with 612 total deaths.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1364 D type Oxygen cylinders and 521 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur, according to the Health Department.
Air passengers who travelled to the State on 14th May, 2021 by Air India Al-715 in rows 8-14 have been instructed to inform the Common Covid Control Room 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Meanwhile, India reported 2.64 lakh new COVID-19 cases and 4,329 deaths in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Tuesday, as per Union Health Ministry. 4.22 lakh patients were discharged during the period.
The active cases now stand at 33.54 lakhs. The number of the total infections in the country has reached 2.52 crore and 2.66 lakhs deaths. 18.45 crore individuals have been vaccinated in the country.
