Teaching and non-teaching staff of LMS Law College on Friday held a joint sit-in protest at the college campus in Chingmeirong, Imphal demanding absorption of existing teaching and non-teaching staff of the college before any fresh recruitment.
They decried the recent move of the government to recruit four regular teachers ignoring the teachers of the college who have been toiling for the last several years.
Speaking to media persons, guest lecturer of the college, Thingbaijam Linthoi informed that there are six regular teachers including the principal and five guest lecturers. In the college which offers LLB, LLM and PhD programmes, she said that she has been bearing hardships, teaching and guiding the students since 1998.
She further said that the government’s initiative to recruit four regular teachers ignoring the dedication of the senior teachers who have been serving for the last 20 years is unfortunate. It is shocking that they have not been given any advantage. “We don’t have any problem in the recruitment of new teachers, but the senior teachers should be absorbed or make certain arrangements from them,” she added.
