Hundreds of men and women folks, including student community, on Monday took to the street from Paramedical junction, Kohima, as part of the Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO) initiated public rally. The rally began at 10 a.m marching to the office of the deputy commissioner, Kohima, to submit a memorandum.
The rally was organized to show resentment over the alleged murder of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miaslahou, PA to deputy commissioner, Kohima, by two youths on May 18 evening at Phoolbari, Kohima. The accused were identified as Neizosetuo Kire, and Khrietsonyü Whuorie, both of Kohima village.
The WAYO memorandum addressed to the deputy commissioner, Kohima, jointly issued by its president, Neituolie Peseyie, and general secretary, Kevirhebi Mor, stated that it is deeply anguished and appalled by the alleged murder of Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou.
Stating that as per Naga tradition, it is the duty of the elders to reprimand and correct young people for their misdemeanour, however, WAYO said it is “unfathomable and barbaric” for young people to react with brute force to the extent of taking an elders’ life at the same time condemned the heinous crime in its strongest terms.

WAYO further warns that if any person or group tries to bail the two culprits out, they would be held responsible for any untoward consequences at the same time urged the DC to treat the case with outmost seriousness so that justice is delivered at the earliest.
Meanwhile, as per a press release issued by PRO Kohima, on Sunday, Kohima police have arrested two persons on charges of murder and were booked under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The press release stated that a report was received in North Police Station, Kohima, on May 18 evening that an elderly person was hospitalized in a private hospital following physical assault by some individual aftermath of a vehicular traffic related issues and later succumbing to his injuries.
The victim was later identified as Kezhalelie Lawrence Miasalhou, Political Assistant, to deputy commissioner, Kohima.
PRO, Kohima, also said that a criminal has been registered against the two under Section 323/325/352/302 IPC in North Police Station, Kohima.
Those who spoke in the public rally included Kikru Sounu, chairman, Mezoma VC, president, MYO, chairman, SZVC, president, SZYO, DC, Kohima, general secretary, MMK, and Puotei Seketuomia.
