On the occasion, tributes were paid to the “brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty of the Manipur”. “131 Bn. gi Adjutant S Saiyon” read the message forwarded by the Military Affairs Committee (MAC).
Ingba while delivering his speech said that “we should follow the footsteps of our forefathers who made the supreme sacrifice of giving up their lives while carrying on with the revolution in WESEA so that the people of the region can be liberated”.
Ibomcha in his message said “Freedom struggle is like climbing and heading for Mt Everest’s summit. Many mountaineers have died while heading towards the peak in the past but many are still trying to reach the top of Mt Everest. While doing so, many have to follow non-negotiable rules and difficulties. The mission cannot be accomplished by dialogue and talks. After overcoming all difficulties, one can hoist the flag after reaching the top of the mountain. Same is true for our struggle at present”.
