Joint Committee On Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and Uripok Tourangbam Leikai Welfare Organization (UTLWO) conducted a drive in areas under the jurisdiction of UTLWO to check whether non-Manipuris staying in rent in the area are having proper inner line permit or not.
Out of the 310 non-Manipuris checked by members of the two organisations, 46 individuals were found without proper documents for ILP. They have been handed over to the Imphal West Police Station for further verification and legal action, according to a release by UTLWO.
UTLWO further urged the owner of the rental houses to check for proper documentation before renting out their properties. In case JCILPS finds any discrepancies during any surprise visit in future, and police take legal action, UTLWO won’t take any responsibility, it added.
