Covid-19 pandemic had taken a toll on all of us. The frontline workers have been working relentlessly day in day out to overcome the virus. Unfortunately, their fight is far from over. We have been seeing the rise in Covid-19 cases especially in Ukhrul District. In the month of August, nine persons from Ukhrul have succumbed to the virus.
During the pandemic, we have seen the generosity of the people working as a community. Helps have been given in different ways. Today, Indo Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) donated 23 numbers of regulator, 23 numbers of Oximeter, 23 numbers of thermometer and 1 oxygen concentrator machine.
Project Officer, IGSSS Ukhrul, Ngayao Kashung handed the medical supplies to CMO of Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring A Shimray today. “This is just a small contribution from IGSSS but we hope they can be of some help in healing and saving lives.”
Dr Kapangring A Shimray expressed gratitude to the IGSSS for their generous help. He said that “the hospital is in great need of oxygen concentrators and regulators.” With the increase in Covid-19 cases, many of them in serious condition, and with the oxygen plant non-functional, the demand for oxygen remains high.
DSO of Ukhrul Dr Thotreichon Julianna said that there are 164 active cases and 16 people were tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday. A total of 56 patients are in Transit Covid Care Centre, Phungreitang, 24 patients at TK Woodland Covid Hospital, Shirui and 50 patients at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School CHIC. A total of 34 patients are being treated at District Hospital Isolation Ward, out of which 15 are male and 19 are female.
DIO of Ukhrul Dr Pamza Luikham informed that only 26,733 have received their Covid-19 vaccination till date, out of which 19272 have received their first dose and 7,461 their second dose. A total of 34 persons from Ukhrul have succumbed to the virus.
