A Thoubal court on Tuesday sent six accused persons, arrested in connection with murder of Ningthoujam Rohit at Heirok part-2, Mayai leikai, to 15-day judicial remand. Ningthoujam Rohit was shot dead in the wee hours of December 22 at Heirok in a poll-related violence.
Six persons identified as Thokchom Henrik @ Naobi Singh (29) S/O Th. Ibosana Singh of Heirok Part 1 Mayai Leikai; Khundongbam Nicky @ Anju Singh(33) S/O Kh. Raghuchandra Singh of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai; Laishram Biken Singh (23) S/O L. Bimol Singh of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai; Thokchom Bishworjit @ Putro Singh (40) S/O Th. Ibochouba Singh of Heirok Part 2 Thokchom Leikai; Ningthoujam Panan Singh (30) S/O N. Muhindro Singh of Heirok Part 3 Tourangbam Leikai; and Thokchom Sanathoi @ Lai Singh (34) S/O Th. Dijen @ Lakpati Singh of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai were arrested on December 24 in connection with the murder and remanded to police custody for the 10 days.
After the completion of their police remand, they were produced before the chief judicial magistrate Thoubal who sent them to 15-day judicial custody.

Addressing media persons, Ningthoujam Roshan had said that he was present in the house when Thokchom Putro along with some 14 to 15 individuals attacked their house. Putro shot dead Rohit and also shot my father, Ningthoujam Premchandra who is being treated at the moment, he said.
“Although we couldn’t identify all of them, some of them have been named in the FIR complaint that has been lodged at the police station,” he added.
