Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh, Election In-charge of Manipur, Ashok Singhal and MP Rajya Sabha, Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba attended the flag hoisting and campaign kick-off programme of Somatai Shaiza, BJP candidate from 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency on Wednesday at Mission Ground, Alungtang, Ukhrul.
N Biren Singh hoisted the party flag at the residence of Somatai Shaiza at Alungtang and later proceed to Mission Ground to address the gathering. Later, he appealed to the people to send one BJP MLA either from Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts and assured that he will award a cabinet berth to the elected BJP MLA from the Districts.
The chief minister highlighted the various projects being taken up under BJP led Governmnet in the past 5 years. He categorically mentioned the up-gradation of the lone Government college – Pettigrew College at Ukhrul Headquarters. He informed that Rs. 88 Crores has been earmarked for up-gradation of Pettigrew College and the work will commence soon after election.
He informed the gathering that if Somatai Shaiza is elected from 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, he would personally pursue and request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the coming edition of Shiruo Lily State Festival.
He also highlighted the peace and security that has ushered in Manipur with the coming of BJP led Government in Manipur and asserted that the BJP will work for the peace and tranquility and overall development of the people.
