Manipuri girl Gerinda Loitongbam, who undertook a 2,414-km solo drive back and forth between Imphal and New Delhi to spread awareness on crime against women and prove that women can do it all alone, was honoured with National Women Excellence Award 2022 by the National Academy for Art Education.
The award was conferred on her considering her background and achievements at a function held at Hotel Kohinoor Continental in Mumbai.
Gerinda Loitongbam, who is presently pursuing her study in the Manipur University, is daughter of Johnson Loitongbam and Loitongbam Ongbi Somi Devi from Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai.
Gerinda Loitongbam, who is an ardent biker, had hit the headlines when she embarked on a back-and-forth solo drive from Imphal to New Delhi with a message to “stop crime against women in 2019.
