Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) on Monday clarified that the notification doing the rounds on social media about the cancellation of Class XI and XII Examinations, 2021 is a fake and fabricated document. It denied issuing any such notification.
It also lodged a complaint with the Manipur police in this regard. In its complaint letter to the Cyber Crime Police Station, Imphal, COHSEM secretary Ch Biren Singh said that a fake notification dated 09-05-2021 was being circulated through internet and social media for cancellation of Class XI and XII Examinations, 2021 to be conducted by the COHSEM.
The matter was brought to the notice of the secretary by assistant section officer of the council, Ph Rajesh Sharma, through his WhatsApp Account with mobile number 9402752946, where he is the administrator of a WhatsApp Group named “Council HrSec&Coll Group”. At around 10:39 pm on Sunday, the said fake notification was forwarded in the WhatsApp Group by mobile number 7005123810.
Further, the signature of the Secretary of the Council has also been forged in the said fake notification.
“Hence, a serious crime has been committed hurting the sentiments of all the students involved including their parents as well as the public at large. At the same time, the reputation and image of the Council has also been seriously harmed and tarnished”, it added.
The COHSEM secretary requested the police to lodge an appropriate FIR to Investigate and apprehend the culprits at the earliest. Further, it is also requested that the said fake notification may be removed from circulation in the internet and all social media platforms, it added.
Meanwhile, a release by the COHSEM secretary on Monday clarified that the notification is a fake and fabricated document and the same has not been issued by the COHSEM.
The release also informed all concerned that the Class XI and XII Examinations, 2021 are being postponed for the time being in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation and any decision for cancellation of the examinations or otherwise are yet to be taken.

It is further advised to all concerned that any official notification or information by the council shall be uploaded in the official website – www.cohsem.nic.in and also circulated in the local daily newspapers and any unreliable information through unofficial channels or social media be treated with caution, it added.
