Ukhrul on Monday witnessed the grand opening of The Ambrose Hotel at Hundung. One of the first kind in Ukhrul, it will provide suites with higher quality beds, a dresser, a flat screen television and ensuite bathrooms.

Minister of Works, Youth Affairs and Sports, Govindas Konthoujam on Monday stated that economic growth of a hill station like Ukhrul depends on the infrastructure development and conditions of the hill district.
He was speaking at the grand inaugural function of The Ambrose Hotel at Hundung. The minister also said that connectivity and better road networks is one of the many important factors for development.
“Special attention will be given to the Hill Areas. Frequent landslide in the hill areas especially during rainy season has become a big challenge. Adequate compensation will be given to every land owners but abnormal rise in price is also one of the stumbling block in the smooth development of the road,” the minister said.
Govindas Konthoujam added, “We need more hotels with world class facilities. Giving employment to local residents through this kind of initiative is laudable. The favorable climatic condition and the rich flora and fauna are indeed a great blessing for the people of Ukhrul. Let us give our best to welcome tourists from around the world.”
He also stressed on the need for promoting rural tourism while adding that healthy youth for a robust nation is the need of the hour. “Mountain biking is one activities we have to learnt from Ukhrul and promote this sports,” said the minister.
The Ambrose Hotel was inaugurated by the minister in the presence of MLA of Heirok Assembly Constituency, Th Radheshyam; MLA of 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, Ram Muivah; former MLA and BJP Candidate, Somatai Shaiza; Care-taker Chairman of ADC Ukhrul Yaronsho Ngalung; DC of Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar and other dignitaries.
Th Radheshyam stated, “Ukhrul has the potential to become one of the popular destination for tourists. Ukhrul with scenic beauty and hospitality can attract tourists from around the world.”
Ram Muivah opined, “We need infrastructure development in Ukhrul to attract tourists from around the globe. I believe today’s visit of Minister Work and YAS will look into the much needed infrastructure development of Ukhrul.”
The proprietor of The Ambrose Hotel, CS Shanngam Shairei informed that the very hotel has been named after his loving father CS Ambrose Shairei. “The building still need to be upgraded in many ways. We have inaugurated today to give the best service to tourists during Shirui Lily Festival 2022.”
The Ambrose Hotel at Hundung is just few walks away from the Bakshi Ground – the main venue for ShiRock. The ground floor and first floor of the building is a shopping complex. The second and third floor consisting of well-furnished 16 rooms, a cafeteria and a conference room will provide one of the best service in Ukhrul Headquarters.
