Dr Kyoduwo Richard Duomai, a senior resident of Urology Department of JNIMS, Imphal passed away on Saturday evening.

The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic claimed its first doctor from Manipur as Dr Kyoduwo Richard Duomai, a senior resident of Urology Department of JNIMS, Imphal succumbed on Saturday evening.
Netizens of the state took to social media platforms to condole the death of the doctor.
“It is the Cause, Not the Death, That Makes The Martyr! With Profound Grief and Sorrow, We regret to inform that Dr Kyoduwo Richard Duomai left for his Heavenly Abode Today 7:45 PM at JNIMS Due To COVID-19. Our heartfelt Condolences to the Bereaved Families. May God give you Eternal Rest In Peace Sir,” wrote the Facebook page of JNIMS.
Facebook page Poumai Naga Tribe wrote, “With Profound Grief and Sorrow, We regret to inform that Our Beloved Dr Kyoduwo Richard Duomai left for his Heavenly Abode Today at 7:45 PM. He was Working as Senior Resident in Urology Department JNIMS, Imphal. There’s no word to express the sadness of his untimely demise. Our heartfelt Condolences to the Bereaved Families. May God give you Eternal Rest In Peace”.
“A Senior Resident in Urology Dept., JNIMS, Dr. Richard Duomai, serving as a Frontline Hero at Covid Ward, JNIMS breathed his last today due to shortage of Oxygen. Even the Frontline Warriors are not safe nor provided adequate facilities like this fateful ones. Most of the health workers in a state are worried for their lives. And, most of the govt and private hospitals in the state are now in shortage of Oxygen and beds. State govt must take prompt action to urgently fix this mis-management. My deepest condolences to all his dear n love ones, and medical fraternity. May his Soul rest in Peace,” posted Lamtinthang Haokip in his Facebook page.
The COVID situation has been worsening in the state in the last couple of weeks. Record number of new cases have been reported back to back this week. The state has also been reporting the number of daily deaths in double digits for some days now.
Poknafam, a local daily on Saturday reported that around 20 doctors and nurses of JNIMS have been tested positive and are undergoing treatment at JNIMS COVID Ward. Amongst them some are facing low Oxygen Saturation Level.
The news report also mentioned that the doctors and nurses are dismayed at how the authority is treating them. The doctors of JNIMS are planning to chip in monetarily to meet the expenses of their colleagues, it added.
