COVID-19 Manipur: 15 more succumb, recoveries overtake new cases

COVID-19 claimed 15 more lives on Sunday in Manipur, as the death toll rose to 974. Out of 5,059 tests, 530 new cases were reported, as the daily positivity rate increased to 10.48 per cent from Saturday’s 6.96 per cent.

With 726 persons discharged on Sunday, the number of daily recovery overtakes new cases for the second day in a row.

Of the 8,499 active cases in the state, 3,156 are in home isolation at present.

The positive cases from the general population are — 170 from Imphal West, 79 from Imphal East, 60 from Bishnupur, 56 from Thoubal, 53 from Churachandpur, 41 from Chandel, 36 from Kakching, 19 from Jiribam, seven from Ukhrul, six from Tamenglong, and one from Noney.

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 15 Covid 19 deaths — seven persons from Imphal West, two each from Bishnupur and Imphal East, and one each from Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul, and Jiribam. They died at RIMS (2), JNIMS (7), Shija Hospital (4), Raj Medicity (1), and DH Jiribam (1).

On Sunday, 726 persons were discharged, out of which 526 are from home isolation, 15 are from RIMS (11) and JNIMS (4) and the rest 185 are from other COVID care facilities, according to the Health Department.

The total number of infections now stands at 59,852. Of this, 50,379 individuals have recovered, taking the recovery rate to 84.17 per cent.

Oxygen Status

As per the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1,791 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 498 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur. District Hospitals and Government institutions have 356 D, 61 B filled cylinders; out of these —
