In a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Nagaland Congress leader and AICC Minority Department National Coordinator Incharge of Manipur, Rajesh Kumar Sethi, accused them of turning Manipur into a “graveyard of broken promises and shattered lives.” He declared that the people of Northeast, specially Nagaland, would no longer tolerate what he described as the BJP’s deceitful rule.

Sethi pointed out that since May 2023, Manipur has been engulfed in violence under the BJP’s governance, resulting in over 250 deaths, the displacement of 60,000 people, and widespread destruction of properties and churches. He criticized the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in February 2025, calling it a “shameless” act that did little to stop the ongoing bloodshed. Even under President’s Rule, he noted, fresh violence erupted in Churachandpur, demonstrating the BJP’s failure to restore order.

Blaming the crisis on what he termed the “reckless” policies of the BJP, Sethi pointed to the controversial Meitei quota order as a trigger for the ethnic tensions in Manipur. He accused the RSS of pushing a “poisonous agenda of cultural erasure” across the Northeast, attempting to impose a uniform Hindutva ideology that disregards the region’s rich diversity.

“The BJP-RSS duo doesn’t care about our diversity; they want to crush it under their boots and replace it with their saffron empire,” Sethi stated. “The people of Nagaland and the Northeast reject this outright—we will not bow to their arrogance.”

Sethi contrasted the BJP’s policies with the inclusive philosophy of the Congress party, drawing inspiration from Lord Mahavira, Lord Buddha, and Mahatma Gandhi. He emphasized that Congress believes in “Live and Let Others Live Peacefully,” a principle that stands in direct opposition to what he described as the BJP’s divisive politics.

Demanding accountability for the ongoing violence, Sethi called for the immediate removal of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of inaction despite “600 days of bloodshed in Manipur.” He also challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning his absence from Manipur and accusing him of prioritizing photo-ops over real governance.

“We challenge the Prime Minister to step out of his ivory tower, face the people of Manipur, and answer for his cowardice. His refusal to visit the state is an insult to every Northeasterner who trusted his hollow ‘Act East’ slogans,” he said.

Reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to the region, Sethi declared that Congress would fight “tooth and nail” to restore peace in Manipur, safeguard Nagaland’s heritage, and ensure justice across the Northeast. He asserted that the BJP’s “days of betrayal” were coming to an end, with Congress poised to lead the people in reclaiming their future.

“Let Modi and Shah tremble: the tide is turning, and the Northeast will hold them accountable!” he concluded.
