Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh condoled the demise of former MLA of Karong AC Henry Paotel.
Born on March 1, 1960 at Purul Atongba Village of Senapati District, Henry Paotel was a committed leader, who had served the people of the state in different capacities, CM Biren said in a message on Tuesday.
Henry began his career as a student leader in the late 1970s. After briefly serving as a headmaster in a government school, he joined the Treasury and Accounts Administrative Department (Finance), Government of Manipur in 1982. During his service period, he had also served as the president of JAC of AMTUC & AMGEO, Senapati Branch from 1987 to 1990.
After resigning from government service in 1994, he launched his own newspaper, The Hills Time and worked as an editor from 1997 to 2001. He joined politics in 1995 and was elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly from Karong AC in 2002.
Maintaining that Henry Paotei continued working for downtrodden and needy people till his last breath, the chief minister said that in his demise, Manipur has lost a true and able leader, whose contributions would be remembered forever. The void he had left would be hard to fill up, he added.
CM Biren also offered condolences to the bereaved family and shared their grief.
