The accused traffickers include one woman from Tripura and four others from Imphal.

Anti-human Trafficking Unit, Imphal West has rescued four minor children (three girls and one boy) from Tripura from the clutches of child traffickers at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal. They were brought to be engaged as child labourers in different parts of Imphal.
According to police, the accused traffickers were identified as Joylakhi Dutta (34) W/o Rajkumar Dutta from Khwai Gournagar, West Tripura; Hajarimayum Radharani Devi (79) W/o (L) Modhu of Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai and her son Hajarimayum Sanjeev Sharma (51); Aribam Sunita (50) W/o Aribam Dayamo of Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai Kangjabi Leirak and Akoijam Kalpana Chanu (32) D/o Akoijam Lokeshor Meitei of Sagolband Tera Yengkhom Leikai.
After conducting COVID tests, the minors were handed over to the District Child Protection Unit and the Child Line officials of Imphal West.
Further, a regular FIR case against the accused persons were registered at Singjamei PS for illegal child trafficking.
