Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday said that during the cabinet meeting, there was no discussion on shifting of District Election Office (DEO) and Nagaland State Disaster Management Agency (NSDMA) office from Dimapur to New DC Complex Chumukedima.
He disclosed this to media persons on the side-lines of the inaugural programme of Sovima Cricket Ground, Dimapur.
Stating that instead of taking the issue to social media and other platforms, Rio felt that the issue
should have been taken to the government first. He said that on March 11 meet, the Nagaland government had decided to shift the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner’s office headquarter to New DC Complex at Chumukedima, but since there was much “hue and cry” from the public, the government had decided not to shift Dimapur DC office but to place one ADC and a sub-treasury office in order to ease out the congestions in the town.
Rio also informed that the New DC Complex at Chumukedima is already directed to be occupied by one ADC and EAC, Seithekema, who will support the ADC in functioning the office.
“We have already one RTO office there and one sub-treasury office will be there while the passport office is also located there,” Rio maintained while also adding that those who want to come, they are welcome and those who wants to stay there, it is upto to them, so there should be no quarrel.
He also said that there was some “misunderstanding and miscommunication” as in the cabinet meeting, they never discussed that the DEO and NSDMA offices would be shifted to Chumukedima.
Since it was a Home department order to withhold the earlier order which was issued by them, so, there is no issue and if there is any issue, let us not discuss from the “newspaper” but all sit across the table and understand one another, Rio added.
He further said that since it was the voice and demand of the public not to shift the Dimapur DC office from its present location, till date, nothing has been moved.
