The Haflong based Rengma and Zeliangrong Council, Assam reaffirms faith in Naga Hoho and hopes for an early final solution to the Naga political issue.

The Zeliangrong people and the Rengma Naga living in Assam have fervently appealed to all the tribes and the top organisational leaders to continue to support and stand with the Naga Hoho, the “the Supreme Civil Apex Body” of the Nagas” regardless of artificial boundaries of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal and Burma.
A press statement issued by convener Pauheu Newme and general secretary G Thuangan of Rengma and Zeliangrong Council, Assam reminded that the Naga Hoho was formed by the Naga people on the foundation day of tribes Hoho on March 11 and 12, 1998 in Zunhebuto with the objectives to uphold solidarity, “rebuild Naga Family and to facilitate the settlement of Naga issues, to protect Naga System and tradition and to promote social culture and political heritage”.
The Assam-based Naga bodies said that Naga Hoho plays an important role in “resolving conflict situations amongst different factions of the Nagas”. The organisation has initiated to unite the 39 Naga tribes irrespective of the artificial state boundaries. “We appreciate the role of Naga Hoho involvement in the process of Indo Naga Talks and they believe that the settlement should be inclusive of all the Nagas inhabited areas. The Naga Hoho is facilitating in the various issues with the strength and support of the different tribes and Apex Bodies irrespective of regions and states boundary, informed Rengma and Zeliangrong Council, Assam.
On April 18, 2009, a Naga Hoho team led by HK Zhimomi, Deputy Speaker visited Haflong NC Hills during “the difficult time of ethnic clash broke out between Dimasas (Cacharis) and the Zeme Naga”. The Naga Hoho had extended help financially, materially, and morally. In connection with this issue, the Zeliangrong Baudi organised a rally for the restoration of peace in NCHills on June 29, 2009 in Dimapur, Nagaland. This rally was supported by Naga Hoho and a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India was sent so as “to protect the life of minority Nagas in NC Hills”.
In 2014, another ethnic tension flared up leading to clashes in Karbi Anglong. This time, the Naga Hoho once again intervened and took a vital role in restoring peace in the district.
Expressing gratitude to the Naga Hoho, the Naga bodies of Assam that they “believe and support” that the “Naga Hoho is the only Apex Body which is actively working across all the Naga inhabited areas irrespective of outside and within Nagaland”.
The Naga bodies of Assam asserted that they “would not support any kind of initiatives to form other Apex Organisation which will confuse the general public and function in Parallel with the existing Naga Hoho” while hoping that the Naga Hoho will bring peace and a “final solution at the earliest”.
