Continuing his effort to help needy people in and around Moreh town, former Outer Manipur BJP candidate and current spokesperson of BJP Manipur Benjamin Mate on Thursday provided humanitarian assistance to residents of Moreh town and surrounding villages.
As the pandemic wreaks havoc around the globe, no one is safe — the rich or the poor, the haves or the have-nots. The underprivileged are the worst-hit especially in India’s last border town Moreh.
Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and sealing of India-Myanmar border had squeezed residents of Moreh town — where people struggled to survive the rising prices with loss of livelihood and earnings. The onset of monsoon and rise of vector-borne disease added the woes to the already burdened parents.
Benjamin Mate’s aids gave succour to people in times of this hardship. He distributed 252 bags of rice to 12 units of the Hill Tribal Council, Moreh. The Relief Materials distribution programme was held at HTC Office in presence of HTC leaders. Executives of HTC unit 1 to 12 were also present at the programme. Leaders of HTC Units expressed their gratitude to Benjamin for extending help during this hard time.
Later, Benjamin Mate held a meeting with Kuki Chiefs’ Association (KCA) Moreh Block at D Monnaphai village. More than 30 village chiefs attended the meeting. The BJP spokesperson donated 60 quintals of rice to KCA which is to be distributed to villagers.
At the meeting, the village chiefs showered praise on the BJP spokesperson for extending help during this time of hardships. Benjamin Mate also heard the problems and grievances of the village chiefs and assured that he would raise their problems to the concerned authority and government.
Besides, he also provided assistance to the Moreh Covid Task Force which is formed by all communities living in Moreh town.
