A family member of Sochipem Thingshung, who was hit by an escort vehicle of DC Ukhrul on December 10, 2021 and was left with a dislocate hip bone on the right side, said the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has extended financial assistance of Rs 1 Lakh for treatment

Members of Soul Brothers and Hao Riders, a riders group of Ukhrul in a press briefing at Ukhrul Headquarters has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul to take care of the medical bills of Sochipem Thingshung, member of Soul Brothers, who was hit by an escort vehicle of DC Ukhrul on December 10, 2021 at Ukhrul Headquarters.
President of Hao Riders Anem Vashi stated that “the unfortunate incident that happened on December 10, 2021 involving escort vehicle of DC Ukhrul and one member of Soul Brothers has left Sochipem Thingshung with a dislocated hip bone, a broken finger and other injuries. He appealed to the DC of Ukhrul to take care of his medical bills.”
Speaking to this correspondent through phone, Sochipem Thingshung narrated that he was on his way to attend his shop, a hood making shop at Hamleikhong at around 8:30 am, when the last escort vehicle gypsy hit him while travelling on his bike. The first escort vehicle and the vehicle carrying DC had already passed but the last escort vehicle hit my bike and I was seriously injured. Instead of helping me, the escort personnel after stopping and getting down from the gypsy scolded and blamed me for not knowing how to drive on the road. Lying helplessly on the road, I called out for help and the locals came in large numbers only then the escort personnel stopped their ranting and abuse. The Deputy Commissioner and his escort party left for Imphal and I was taken to Ukhrul District Hospital by Samuel Horam and others in an alto car.
“The Project Officer of DRDA Ukhrul visited me at Ukhrul District Hospital and informed me that he has come as per direction from DC Ukhrul. From there, I was taken to CHSRC for an X-ray and later referred to Imphal for further treatment. I am now being treated at Advance Hospital, at Imphal and doctor informed me that my hip bone on the right side is dislocated and the little finger is broken.”
President of Soul Brothers Wungsem Shimrah while conveying speedy recovery to Sochipem Thingshung appealed the drivers in Ukhrul to be more careful at the same time maintain speed and traffic rules while driving in the narrow road of Ukhrul District.
General secretary of Hao Riders Chihan Leisan also questioned the approach of uniform personnel. He lamented, “Is the uniform personnel assigned to abuse civilians or to protect and help the citizens in times of need? The brutal thing is that they should have taken the victims to the nearest hospital instead of rushing to Imphal.”
A family member of Sochipem Thingshung said that the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul has extended financial assistance of Rs. 1 Lakh for treatment. It is also learnt that Ukhrul Police has visited the spot to ascertain the situation. No complaint has been lodged to the Ukhrul Police Station in this regard, while filing this report.
