Awareness campaign programme on solid waste management and installation of plastic bottle bank at Ukhrul was held on Sunday at Tangrei Community Hall, Ukhrul
The awareness programme was organised by Khamatek, Ukhrul in collaboration with the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur and ADC Ukhrul.
Dr. T. Braja Kumar, Joint Director, Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur attended the function as Cheif Guest.
T. Braja Kumar stated, “the initiative is a pilot project in Ukhrul District. With Tangrei locality as a role model, the projects aim to spread to 28 locality within the jurisdiction of Hunphun in the days to come.” He emphasised to need to make proper by-laws for successful implementation and at the same time create more awareness on solid waste management.
The Khamatek has installed plastic bottle bank at various locations of Ukhrul Headquarters.
