In view of the unilateral decision taken by the Vice Presidnet of ATSUM, Vanlallien Khaute has been suspended from the executive of ATSUM, said Finance Secretary of ATSUM, Henkai Shingsit.

The Emergency Meeting of ATSUM and its federating units held on Tuesday suspended its Vice President Vanlallien Khaute as one of the executive members of ATSUM and also denounced the agreement signed between Manipur State Government, Hill Areas Committee and supposed representatives of ATSUM, ANSAM, KSO-GHQ on August 7 in matters relating to the impasse of the HAC recommended “The Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill”.
Finance Secretary of ATSUM, Henkai Shingsit stated that “Today, ATSUM and its Federating Units had an exhaustive and extensive discussion and deliberation on the ongoing situation in the hill areas of Manipur. And we have decided to denounce the MoU that was signed on the 7th of August 2022, because not a single office bearers and executive were consulted when MoU was signed. Whoever have signed has done in his individual capacity without consulting his colleagues and the executives. So, in view of the unilateral decision taken by the Vice Presidnet of ATSUM, Vanlallien Khaute has been suspended from the executive of ATSUM.”
Further, ATSUM is convening emergency meeting of ATSUM, ANSAM, KSO-GHQ, ATSUM Federating Units and Senior leaders on August 10, 2022 to seek a common way forward of the ongoing movement for introducing the HAC recommended “The Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Councils Bill 2021 in the Manipur Legislative Assembly and enactment of the same into an Act.
