The body of late Athuan Abonmai will be laid to rest on October 14 in Imphal. The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Brutal Murder of Athuan Abonmai along with the family members of the deceased also decided to conduct a “Funeral Service Cum Condolence” programme on the same day at Tarung Village Community Hall, Thangmeiband, Imphal, Manipur.

It may be mentioned that Athuan Abonmai was abducted and subsequently brutally murder on September 22 at Tamenglong District, Manipur when he went to attend the official programme “Go to Hills” in which the CM Biren had attended the programme as the chief guest, which was also attended by his cabinet colleagues and top government officials.
The body was brought to Imphal on September 23 and has been kept in the RIMS morgue after completion of post mortem and other necessary official procedures and formalities on the condition that the JAC demands put up before the state government was fulfilled so as to bring a logical conclusion.
The JAC and the Govt. of Manipur had held meetings five times where CM Biren led the government side, participated by the chief secretary; additional chief secretary; special secretary, home; DIG; DC Imphal West District and the JAC was represented by its convenor; advisor and leaders of the various Zeliangrong Civil Organizations.
The family members and relatives of late Athuan Abonmai and the JAC also requested the leaders of all the leading civil societies organizations of the state and all the people who are well known to late Athuan Abonmai and who have shared the pain and grief with the family members during this time of agony and who have stood in unison with the JAC during the time of searching for justice for the departed soul, to join the programme. The “Funeral Service Cum Condolence” programme will be commenced from 11:30 am onwards.
