AR Celebrates National Unity Day

Somsai Battalion under the aegis of 10 Sector Assam Rifles celebrates National Unity Day at Ukhrul Headquarters to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

Somsai Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(S), celebrated National Unity Day in Somsai & Ukhrul town post on October 31 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. As part of celebrations, a 6 Km Unity Run , Bike rally, march past & oath ceremony was organised with full vigour and enthusiasm.

The celebrations began with the Unity Run from Ukhrul Town to Somsai flagged off by Colonel Manoj Shinde, Commandant of 35 Assam Rifles at 07:00am. 150 participants which included students, ex- servicemen and locals of Ukhrul Headquarters participated in the event. Subsequently a march past was organised for the students of ARPS, Somsai .

In the sequence of events, a Bike Rally from Ukhrul Headquarters to Jorcheng was flagged off by Brigadier Vaibhav Shinde, DIG 10 Sector Assam Rifles. 20 bikers from “The Soul Brothers” a biker club of Ukhrul District extended their support in spreading the message of Unity. The DIG praised the efforts of the biker group for their contribution to the society. At the culmination of the events, an oath ceremony was also undertaken to pledge for unity.

National Unity Day is a day to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country.

The students , teachers & locals of Ukhrul appreciated the gesture which has ensured in building a long lasting relationship with the people and to spread the word of unity.
