India recorded the highest-single day spike, since the beginning of the pandemic, of 184,372 fresh cases on Wednesday, taking the country’s total infection tally past 13.87 million.

COVID-19 active cases in Manipur surged to 133 on Wednesday with 21 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West (10), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (4), Churachandpur (5) and Tengnoupal (1), according to COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The cumulative positive cases stood at 29,561. While no deaths were reported on Wednesday, 376 lives have been claimed by the deadly virus so far.
Air passengers who travelled to the state on April 10, 2021 by Indigo flights 6E-2615 in rows 23-29 and 6E-524 in rows 22-28 and on April 11, 2021 by Indigo flights 6E-172 in rows 1-5 and 6E-2251 in rows 10-16, have been instructed to inform the Common COVID Control Room 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.
Meanwhile, 1,815 individuals were inoculated on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 98,781.

The grim figures come on the last day of “Tika Utsav” (vaccination festival) during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for mass participation in the immunisation drive across the country.
In Manipur, MLAs, ministers and others including chief minister N Biren Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leisemba were inoculated during the Tika Utsav.
Biren has been urging those qualified to get the vaccine to get the jab, in an attempt to ramp up the vaccination process.
