The 14th Lamp Lighting Ceremony at Kangleipak Nursing College, a prominent Medical & Nursing Institute under Khongnangthaba University, was held on Friday at the institute’s campus in Khurai Konsam Leikai, Paonam Leirak, Imphal East District.
The annual event, which marks the beginning of a new academic chapter for nursing students, was attended by dignitaries from various fields, including Prof. N. Joykumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Khongnangthaba University; Kh. Ratna Devi, Director of Nursing at the University; and Dr. K. Gunabanta Singh, Medical Superintendent of Biren Hospital, Chingarel.
The ceremony began with the traditional lamp-lighting, performed by Th. Joyshree Devi, the Principal of the Nursing College. This symbolic gesture marked the students’ formal entry into the noble profession of nursing and medicine. The lighting of the lamp is a long-standing tradition at the institution, representing the illumination of knowledge and commitment to the healthcare profession.
In his address as Chief Guest, Prof. N. Joykumar Singh expressed his pride in the students and encouraged them to pursue their studies with dedication. He also highlighted an exciting development for the university, announcing that a dedicated hospital would soon be inaugurated.
