The 14th Lamp Lighting Ceremony at Kangleipak Nursing College, a prominent Medical & Nursing Institute under Khongnangthaba University, was held on Friday at the institute’s campus in Khurai Konsam Leikai, Paonam Leirak, Imphal East District.

The annual event, which marks the beginning of a new academic chapter for nursing students, was attended by dignitaries from various fields, including Prof. N. Joykumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Khongnangthaba University; Kh. Ratna Devi, Director of Nursing at the University; and Dr. K. Gunabanta Singh, Medical Superintendent of Biren Hospital, Chingarel.

The ceremony began with the traditional lamp-lighting, performed by Th. Joyshree Devi, the Principal of the Nursing College. This symbolic gesture marked the students’ formal entry into the noble profession of nursing and medicine. The lighting of the lamp is a long-standing tradition at the institution, representing the illumination of knowledge and commitment to the healthcare profession.

In his address as Chief Guest, Prof. N. Joykumar Singh expressed his pride in the students and encouraged them to pursue their studies with dedication. He also highlighted an exciting development for the university, announcing that a dedicated hospital would soon be inaugurated. This new facility, he stated, would provide invaluable practical learning opportunities for nursing students and enhance the university’s healthcare training capabilities. “There are numerous opportunities in the nursing profession, and your future is very promising,”

Prof. Joykumar said. “Khongnangthaba University is playing a key role in providing ample job opportunities, and this new hospital will not only serve our community but also become a pivotal training ground for healthcare professionals.”

Kh. Ratna Devi, in her address, shared her excitement about the growth and recognition of the nursing program under her leadership. She acknowledged the significant strides the college had made in producing qualified and skilled nursing professionals who are now playing critical roles in the healthcare sector.

Guest of Honour, Dr. K. Gunabanta Singh, stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of healthcare services.
