On 24 October 2022 at around 4.50 pm, two women of Poi Village namely RS Ngamreila, 30, w/o RS Varechung, and RK Ramreila, 35, w/o RK Mathotmi of Poi Village were carried away while crossing a stream called Tholiru near Challou River of Poi Village.

The body of RK Ramreila was found in between Akhegaw village and Huchu village, under the Meluri Sub Division of Nagaland’s Phek District.
On 24 October 2022 at around 4.50 pm, two women of Poi Village namely RS Ngamreila, 30, w/o RS Varechung, and RK Ramreila, 35, w/o RK Mathotmi of Poi Village were carried away while crossing a stream called Tholiru near Challou River of Poi Village.
On October 27, 2022, at around 01:30 pm, the body of RS. Ngamreila was found in the river near Mokam Luipam of New Tusom.
President of Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL), Somipam Vashum told this correspondent that “the villagers of Akhegaw Village under Meluri Sub Division, Phek District, Nagaland first spotted the body at the river on 3 November 2022 at around 05.00 pm. The villagers then informed the Headman of Akhegaw and later the police. The villagers guarded the body in the river the whole night. And on 4 November 2022, the body was fished out from the river. The body was found in between Akhegaw village and Huchu village of Phek District, Nagaland.”
President of RKL, Somipam Vashum expressed gratitude to the villagers of Akhegaw for their selfless service. He said, “The villagers had to swim against the strong current and retrieve the body from the other side of the river. Since there was no motorable road, the villagers even carried the body from the river to the village settlement. We are grateful to everyone who has rendered their selfless service.”
The body has been safely taken back to the Poi village.
